The bigger picture
Design rarely sits neatly within a single discipline. The subject matter changes. The design brain remains.
Architecture, interiors, kitchens, furniture, materials, manufacturing and construction are interconnected. Decisions in one area inevitably affect another.
I work across those boundaries, bringing together design thinking, technical understanding and practical experience to see the whole picture and the detail within it—identifying problems early and developing coherent solutions that can actually be made, built and delivered.
My experience spans architectural, interior, kitchen and furniture design, spatial planning, materials, manufacturing and technical design. That breadth allows me to look beyond the immediate brief, understand how the individual parts need to work together as a whole, and recognise the detail that can determine whether the solution actually works.
Working independently across disciplines, suppliers and project teams, I bring objective design judgement to the process—translating what clients need, want and actually mean into clear decisions that others can design, specify, manufacture and build from.
When asked what I do, my usual reply is ‘I’m a problem solver with good taste’.
The latter is subjective of course!
