Headland House
A study in Bespoke Kitchen Design
No two StudioDeWynter kitchens are the same.
A StudioDeWynter kitchen design is developed for a particular project; it is not intended to be reproduced or transferred from one home to another.
Whilst I understand there is a market for signature styles across interior and kitchen design, it is not something I knowingly practise. The design rationale is centred around the client from beginning to end, shaped by their home, their aspirations and the way they want to live.
This means the design can go wherever the project needs it to go. It is not constrained by a predetermined style, system or fixed way of working.
From a personal perspective, that is what I enjoy about this work: taking something non-standard, yet complex and full of possibilities, and turning it into something that feels resolved and inevitable.
I work with a small number of clients each year, as well as architects and contractors, allowing me to give each project the time, attention and design thinking it deserves.
Headland House - Kitchen Design Propsal
This unusual kitchen was designed with and in response to a design study for A large lakeside residence, with a strong yet mixed architectural and interior design aesthetic, spaces for artwork, and moments of discovery. Of particular importance are the views, which were intended to form part of a unique sense of living and sensory experience.
A complex kitchen requires cross-disciplinary design expertise.
StudioDeWynter brings together spatial planning, cabinetry, appliances, worktops, lighting, materials, hardware and furniture to develop a kitchen that works as part of the wider home.
My experience spans both the design of kitchens and the products and processes that bring them to life. I've worked with leading German and Italian kitchen systems, English handmade cabinetry, premium appliance brands including Gaggenau, Miele and Sub-Zero, stone and porcelain worktops, architectural hardware, flooring and other specialist finishes.
That means I can look beyond the cabinet itself and consider how the whole kitchen needs to work, from the first layout through to the finer details and final specification.
